Three killed as bus ploughs into shelter
November 1st, 2010 - 4:05 pm ICT by IANSGhaziabad, Nov 1 (IANS) Three persons were crushed to death and five injured Monday when a chartered bus crashed into a bus stand while trying to avoid colliding with a motorcycle on the National Highway 58 here.
“Three persons were killed on the spot and five of them sustained critical head and fracture injuries. The injured are admitted in a local government hospital, while the bodies of the three victims have been sent for autopsy,” circle officer Dr. Praveen Ranjan Singh said.
According to the police, the bus plying on the Meerut-Delhi route was transporting office-goers to their offices in the capital.
Around 9 a.m., a motorcycle swerved in front of the bus, and the driver turned left to avoid a collision, which led to the chartered bus running over a group of people in the adjoining bus stand, police said.
