Three kids drown in uncovered Delhi drains
January 26th, 2011 - 11:37 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 26 (IANS) Three children died after falling in uncovered drains in two incidents here Wednesday, police said. Mohammad Imran, 12, died after falling in an uncovered sewage drain while playing cricket around 2.30 p.m. in Jamia Nagar.
The second incident took place at Sector 22 in Dwarka.
Seven-year-old Karan and his 10-year-old sister Kajol fell in a ditch on a plot of land.
According to the police, the owner of the land had dug the ditch for the plot’s drainage.
“The kids fell into the ditch while playing and drowned,” said a police officer.
“We have taken the statements of their parents and the witnesses. There is no foul play,” the police officer added.
