Three highway robbers held

New Delhi, March 5 (IANS) With the arrest of three highway robbers in north Delhi, six cases of theft have been solved and stolen property worth Rs.5 lakh recovered, police said Saturday.

“Ravi, 38, Raj Kumar, 32, and Kaushar Ali, 40, were held from Kashmere Gate area in north Delhi Friday following a tip-off,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)Surender Singh Yadav.

During investigation, they told police they were active for the last 10-12 years. A key member of the gang, Asif, is still absconding, said the DCP.

Ravi told police that he was arrested in 1996 in a robbery case in Shahdara in east Delhi.

“He was arrested and was in jail for one-and-half year. After coming out of jail, he formed his own gang and started committing highway robberies and thefts. Ravi was earlier involved in eight cases,” said Yadav.
