Three held with 500 cartridges in Uttar Pradesh
January 24th, 2011 - 1:24 pm ICT by IANSMeerut (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 24 (IANS) Three men were arrested here with a cache of cartridges, police said Monday.Around 500 cartridges of country-made pistols were seized from them Sunday night following a joint raid by the special operation group (SOG) and the district police.
The three men were to supply the cartridges to their clients in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and NCR regions.
“The men, aged around 25 years, were held while on their way to hand over the cartridges consignment to their clients,” inspector Prabhakar Kumar told reporters here, some 450 km from Lucknow.
“We are yet to ascertain from where they had brought the cartridges consignment. Investigations are on to find information about their gang involved in manufacturing and supply of arms and ammunition,” he added.
