New Delhi, Aug 8 (IANS) Three members of the Bablu gang, involved in several criminal cases, have been arrested here for firing nine bullets at an accountant and looting him of Rs.134,000 near Delhi Police headquarters exactly a month ago, the police said Friday. Yogesh Kumar, 32, and Arun Sharma, 31, were arrested from Yamuna Pushta Road in east Delhi Thursday evening while they were going on a motorbike to meet their leader Hari Kishan, 33, at the Indraprastha Metro Station. They fired at the team of policemen but were overpowered.
Hari Kishan, who works for Bablu presently lodged in Haryana’s Bhondsi jail, was also arrested from the Metro station. Two pistols and two stolen motorbikes were recovered from them.
Joint Commissioner of Police (New Delhi Range) Ajay Kashyap said that Kumar, Sharma, Kishan and their fourth accomplice Deepak, who is still at large, had killed Mahesh Kapoor near his employer’s Nokia showroom on Vikas Marg, a stone’s throw distance from Delhi Police headquarters, July 8 afternoon.
The assailants, who were wearing helmets with dark visor and riding two motorbikes, followed Kapoor from an HDFC Bank branch to his office and pumped nine bullets into his body. Kapoor died on the spot.
The assailants fled with Rs.134,000 cash, which Kapoor had withdrawn from the bank.
“Hari Kishan in his interrogation said he was running the gang for the last five years and he himself is a sharp shooter and works on contract for Bablu gang,” Kashyap said.
The official said the gang is involved in several cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, snatching, auto lifting and extortion.
