New Delhi, Nov 10 (IANS) Three people, including two women, were arrested for robbing Rs.3.5 lakh from a house in west Delhi last month, police said Thursday.

Shahnawaz, his lover and media marketing executive Chetna Singh and her friend and marketing executive Jaspreet Kaur were arrested Wednesday. They committed the crime to meet their expenses.

Shahnawaz was arrested from Hari Nagar and the two women were arrested from Nihal Vihar, police said.

Alka Panchal, a resident of Hari Nagar, lodged a complaint that two men forcibly entered her house on the eve of Dussehra Oct 5 and took away Rs.3.5 lakh along with a motorcycle and other articles.

The money was lying in the house as it was returned to her family by a property broker after their bid to buy a house failed.

Police questioned employees of a beauty parlour which was being run from the ground floor of the building in which Panchal lived.

“During sustained interrogation, employees of the parlour revealed that at the time of incident two women were present in the parlour and one of them was an old customer who identified herself as a press reporter. They said their behaviour was suspicious,” said police official.

Police identified the two women as Chetna and Jaspreet, who spent most of their time in hotels and restaurants.

After interrogation, police came to know that Chetna’s boyfriend Shahnawaz committed the crime along with another person at her behest.
