Three held for looting passengers after offering lifts
January 20th, 2011 - 8:37 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 20 (IANS) Three youths who robbed people after offering them lifts in their car were arrested in northwest Delhi, police said Thursday.The gang comprising of Harsh Sharma, 22, Nitin, 20, and Rajesh, 24 was active in north and west Delhi. They were nabbed Wednesday from Rohini.
“We have closed two cases with their arrest. On Jan 10, they had robbed a railway employee. They offered him a lift and beat him up and took all his belongings at knife-point,” a police officer said.
On Jan 15, they offered a lift to a man waiting at a bus stop to go to Haryana. They snatched his purse and mobile phone. When he protested, they stabbed him on his hand.
“After robbing a victim, they used to tie his hands and cover his face with a polythene bag or the victims’ shirt before dumping him at a secluded spot to ensure that the he does not note down the car number,” the police officer said.
Police have recovered three mobile phones, one surgical blade, a watch and a car used in committing the crimes.
