New Delhi, Oct 20 (IANS) Three men in their 20s were arrested here on charges of killing a Delhi Police constable who resisted their robbery attempt, police said Thursday.

Rudra Mani, 22, Sunil, 26, and Rohit Kumar, 22, are accused of stabbing Harkesh Meena, 26, to death at Adarsh Nagar in north Delhi Oct 15 when he challenged them, Deputy Commissioner of Police Meenu Choudhury said.

The arrests followed help from a witness to the crime, who “described one of the accused perfectly”, Choudhury said.

This was Rudra Mani, who was arrested Thursday at a fruit market in Azadpur. At his instance, Sunil was caught from his house in Bhalaswa even as he tried to flee with his family.

Kumar was apprehended from a bus stand where he was waiting for Rudra Mani.

Rudra Mani told the police that he was in need of money as his brother was getting married while Sunil needed money to pay his rent.

“So they planned to rob someone. This ended in Meena’s murder,” she said.
