December 27th, 2011 - 11:57 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 27 (IANS) Inspired by a Bollywood flick, three men duped several women here by selling them fake gold and also buying their jewellery by giving them fake currency, police said Tuesday.
Rahul Kumar, Jitender and Harikesh were arrested while they were trying to sell a fake gold brick to a woman for Rs.5,000.
The woman paid them the money, but became suspicious and approached a patrolling constable, after which he interrogated the trio.
Kumar then confessed that he and his associates used to sell fake gold bricks for the last one-and-half years.
“They got the idea after watching the movie ‘Baap Numbari Beta Dus Numbari’,” a police officer said.
“They also used to cheat women by buying their jewellery and giving them fake currency,” he added.
