Three drown as overloaded boat capsizes in Bihar
May 22nd, 2012 - 1:29 pm ICT by IANSPatna, May 22 (IANS) At least three people were killed and 15 were missing after a boat carrying 35 people capsized in the Kosi river in Bihar’s Saharsa district early Tuesday, police said.
Ten people managed to swim to safety and seven were rescued by local villagers. A search is on for the missing people. “Search and rescue operations are on,” a police official said.
A district administration official said three bodies had been recovered.
The boat, with a capacity of only 15, was overcrowded, police said.
