Three die in Bengal road accident
July 7th, 2011 - 4:18 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, July 7 (IANS) Three people were killed and at least 40 injured in West Bengal’s Howrah district Thursday when a bus collided with a rickshaw on a highway and plunged into a pool of water, police said.
“The Howrah-bound bus from East Midnapore carrying 50 passengers hit a rickshaw from behind near Gopalpur area and lost control. It fell into a water body,” said Howrah Police Superintendent Rabindranath Mukherjee.
“Three people, including the rickshaw puller, died on the spot while at least 40 people were injured.” The bus passengers were rescued and shifted to different hospitals.
