Three die after consuming illicit liquor
April 6th, 2011 - 12:51 am ICT by IANSJyotiba Phule Nagar (Uttar Pradesh), April 5 (IANS) Three people died and two others fell ill in this Uttar Pradesh district Tuesday after allegedly consuming illicit liquor, police said.
“Those who died or hospitalised are from different villages near Gajraula town. The three men, who died after consuming spurious liquor were in the age group 30-40 years,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Devendra Singh told reporters in district headquarters Amroha, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“The condition of the two men being treated in a hospital is stated to be serious,” he added.
Police are yet to ascertain where from the villagers bought the illicit liquor.
“Investigations by the district adminstration officials are being carried out in this regard,” said Singh.
Police are yet to make any arrest in connection with the case.
