Three crude bombs recovered in Allahabad
December 9th, 2010 - 4:54 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Dec 9 (IANS) Panic gripped a residential area of Uttar Pradesh’s major city Allahabad Thursday after three live crude bombs were recovered from a garbage trolley, within two days of a bomb blast in Varanasi, police said.
“Acting on a tip-off, we recovered the crude bombs from the garbage bin in the Bahadurganj area. A team of Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) has defused all the bombs,” Deputy Inspector General of Police Ram Kumar told IANS on phone from Allahabad, some 200 km from here. He, however, ruled out any terror angle behind the incident.
According to police, pieces of stones and gunpowder-like material have been found in the bombs.
“As of now, we cannot ascertain the intensity of these bombs,” Allahabad City Superintendent of Police S.S. Baghel told reporters.
A bomb blast that took place in Varanasi Tuesday evening had killed a toddler and injured over 30 people.
