Three cops die in Jharkhand road accident
December 20th, 2009 - 2:15 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Ranchi, Dec 20 (IANS) Three policemen died and nine others were injured Sunday after the mini-bus they were travelling in collided with a truck in Giridih district of Jharkhand, authorities said.
“Twelve cops were returning in a mini-bus to Giridih district from Garwah after doing duty in the fifth and final phase of assembly polls. The mini-bus collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction near Bagodar of Giridih district Sunday morning,” a police officer told IANS.
All the policemen were posted in Giridih district and they had been sent to Garwah for election duty Friday.
In the accident, three assistant sub-inspector rank police officers were killed.
Nine cops were injured and have been admitted to a local hospital where the condition of three is said to be serious.
Bagodar is around 160 km from Ranchi.
