Three children injured in blast
August 15th, 2011 - 7:18 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Aug 15 (IANS) Three boys were seriously injured in a minor blast in the Barrackpore area of West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district Monday, police said.
Aged between six and seven, the children were trying to open a bottle kept between stacks of bricks when it exploded. It turned out that the bottle contained an explosive potassium compound.
“One of the injured is being operated upon right now,” said Dhrubajyoti Dey, additional superintendent of police, Barrackpore. “The other two boys also are in hospital undergoing treatment. We suspect the bottle was filled with some kind of potassium compound which exploded when they tried to force it open.”
