Three burnt to death in Noida
January 7th, 2012 - 11:43 pm ICT by IANSNoida, Jan 7 (IANS) Three members of a family, including two minor boys, were burnt to death when their house caught fire here Saturday, police said.
According to a local police official, Kalpana, 32, and her two minor sons — Amrit, 7, and Afsan alias Appu, 4 — died in the fire at their home in Gheja area in Sector-82 area of Noida.
Kalpana’s husband Basant, 35, who worked as a security guard at an ATM in Noida, was out when the accident occurred.
According to police, the fire could have been caused by a candle being knocked over as the entire area was without power for the last two-three days.
The incident came to light, when neighbours, seeing smoke come out of the house, knocked on the door but received no answer and informed police.
“We saw all three members lying dead in a charred state on a bed. The stack of clothes kept in the room had burnt. Prima facie, it seems to be an accident, though we are investigating into it,” said the police official.
