Three bombs defused in Allahabad (Lead, Changing dateline)
December 9th, 2010 - 5:45 pm ICT by IANSAllahabad, Dec 9 (IANS) Two days after a terror attack in Varanasi killed a girl child, police Thursday recovered and defused three crude bomb here in Uttar Pradesh.
The bombs were found in a garbage trolley in Bahadurganj area, Deputy Inspector General of Police Ram Kumar said.
“We had a tip. The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) has defused the bombs,” Kumar told IANS, some 200 km from the state capital Lucknow. He, however, ruled out any terror angle.
According to police, pieces of stones and gunpowder-like material have been found in the bombs.
“As of now, we cannot ascertain the intensity of these bombs,” Allahabad Superintendent of Police S.S. Baghel told reporters.
A bomb blast on the bank of the Ganga in Varanasi Tuesday evening killed a toddler and injured over 30 people.
