Three auto lifters arrested, 33 stolen vehicles recovered

Ghaziabad, Sep 24 (IANS) Three auto lifters were arrested and 33 stolen vehicles recovered from their possession, police said here Tuesday. Senior Superintendent of Police Ghaziabad L. Ravi Kumar told media persons that the Special Operations Group (SOG) and the police from four different police stations - Vijay Nagar, Dhaulana, Masuri and Murad Nagar - raided the hideout of the auto lifter gang leader Wasim at Dadri and arrested him.

During interrogation, he revealed that he had stolen 46 vehicles from different places in the national capital region. On his tip off, the police recovered 33 four and two-wheeler as well as three pistols and tools to prise open locks. He also helped police nab his two other associates - Arif and Mukesh.

During the operation, the police also unearthed an illegally run arms manufacturing company from Dhaulana area and recovered a dozen country-made pistols and tools to manufacture them, Ravi Kumar said.
