Three arrested in sex scandal
January 23rd, 2011 - 11:52 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Jan 23 (IANS) Three people were arrested early Sunday from West Bengal’s Howrah district after a 17-year-old girl accused the trio of raping her and circulating obscene video clippings involving her on mobile phones, police said.The girl had accused Papai alias Chiranjeet, Mithun and Sanjay of raping her and circulating the footage via MMS. The girl alleged that last year Chiranjeet called her to his house and gave her water laced with sedatives. After the girl went unconscious, the trio raped her and recorded her obscene video clippings on their mobile, said Sumanjit Ray, additional superintendent, Howrah (town).
The incident happened at the Ghusuri area of the district.
Later the trio circulated the video among various people in the area. Acting on the complaint police, arrested the trio.
“We have arrested the trio and produced them in court. It’s true that it has been circulated but it’s not yet proved whether it has been circulated via MMS or some other method,” Ray told IANS.
