New Delhi, Dec 9 (IANS) Three persons were arrested Tuesday for allegedly robbing Rs.1.8 million in south Delhi last month after firing at the guards of a private security company van, police said.Acting on specific information, police arrested Mannan, the gang leader, from south Delhi for robbing the amount from the A.P. Securitrans van at Satya Niketan Nov 18.
Based on the leads provided by Mannan, police arrested Rajkumar, an employee with the security company who provided route details of the van and other information to the gang and Suresh, who provided stolen vehicles to the gang.
“It is an inter-state gang involved in over a dozen robberies. The gang used to target vehicles transferring cash from one location to another,” a senior police officer said.
Police has recovered Rs.200,000 cash, one revolver and some stolen vehicles from their possession.
The guards of the security company had brought the cash from their head office in Delhi Cantonment to their Satya Niketan office. Four unidentified men on black motorcycles wearing helmets snatched the cash and fired indiscriminately injuring a security guard.
Police said the search is on to nab the fourth member of the gang.
