Three arrested for human trafficking
September 16th, 2011 - 9:00 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 16 (IANS) Three people were arrested here for alleged human trafficking and 22 passports and two fake visa stickers seized from them, police said Friday.
The accused, identified as Bahadur Ghimire, 39, Devender Gurung, 43 and Shakil Ahmed, 33 were arrested from various parts of the capital.
“Police arrested Ghimire Sep 9 at the South Africa high commission in Vasant Vihar when the commission informed police that he had approached it with a fake South African visa,” said a police official.
The other two were arrested from Wazirabad in north Delhi.
“During interrogation, Gurung and Ahmed said they work as travel agents and claimed to be sending people to Malaysia and Mauritius on genuine visas. So far, they have sent more than 100 people abroad,” the officer added.
