Three armed Maoists held in Chhattisgarh
March 5th, 2011 - 12:42 am ICT by IANSRaipur, March 4 (IANS) Three armed Maoists were held Friday in a forested pocket in Chhattisgarh’s restive Bastar region, police said.
The arrest were made from Pakhanjoor area in Kanker district that forms the about 40,000 sq km Maoist-stronghold Bastar region along with Dantewada, Bastar, Bijapur and Narayanpur districts.
Officials here at police headquarters said that District Force personnel apprehended the rebels when they were holding a meeting in a jungle. Several others, however, managed to escape.
The three rebels were wanted in several attack cases in Kanker district and its neighbopuring Narayanpur district.
