Bhubaneswar, April 8 (IANS) The threat email sent to Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik warning of an attack like Chhatisgarh’s Dantewada massacre, in which 76 troopers were killed, has been traced to a computer in the state, officials said Thursday.
“Only thing I can say at this stage is that the email has been sent from a computer in Orissa,” said P.K. Mohapatra, IT secretary of the state.

The investigating team from Orissa Computer Application Center (OCAC) found that the email has been sent from a Czech Republic server, from a computer in Orissa. The team found the source of the email with the help of information from the Czech Republic.

“We have traced the computer from which the email was sent,” said S.K. Tripathy, the investigating officer from OCAC.

The information gathered by the IT experts has been given to police and they are trying to find out who sent the email.

“The police are investigating the matter. Let us wait for their report,” Patnaik said.

The email sent by suspected Maoists was received on the chief minister’s official email address Wednesday.

The email was sent from plga.ocac.in, warning the chief minister to refrain from joint anti-Maoist operations.

A similar email was received from plga@orissa.gov.in March 27, threatening to blow up vital installations in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri.

The investigators probing the case are still clueless about the source of the last email. This is the fourth such email received by Patnaik this year.

A similar mail was received on the eve of the Republic Day and he also received a threat email from the official email account of newly-formed Central University of Orissa at Koraput in February.
