Thousands march towards Jantar Mantar
August 17th, 2011 - 9:55 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 17 (IANS) Thousands of people supporting Gandhian Anna Hazare and his demand for a strong Lokpal Bill gathered at India Gate in the capital Wednesday evening and proceeded towards Jantar Mantar.
“Around 1.5 lakh people have gathered at India Gate to support Anna Hazare and his cause for corruption-free India. People are still gathering at India Gate and marching from there towards Jantar Mantar,” said an activist from India Against Corruption.
“We expect that people in lakhs will turn up at Jantar Mantar. In fact, there’s a huge rush at Parliament Street,” said the activist.
“The talks are on with the government regarding the venue for the indefinite strike. We will be ready to camp at Jantar Mantar but are waiting for the decision of the government,” the activist added.
