New Delhi, March 25 (IANS) Unidentified burglars struck at Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh’s bungalow in the VVIP Lutyens Zone here and decamped with some old vessels and scrap items from the garage, police said Friday.

“The incident was reported at around 9 a.m. from the minister’s bungalow on Rajesh Pilot Marg,” a senior police officer said.

The incident came to light when Ramesh’s staff Padmanand found that some vessels and scrap were missing from the garage outside his residence.

“Padmanand told us that he had locked the garage last (Thursday) night and everything was in order. However, in the morning when he went to the garage, he found things missing. Padmanand immediately alerted police about the matter,” the officer said.

The minister’s assistant personal secretary (APS) confirmed the incident. He, however, said: “Only some scrap items were stolen. Nothing big… nothing happened.”
