Ten Maoists killed in Jharkhand
September 27th, 2010 - 5:11 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, Sep 27 (IANS) Ten Maoist guerrillas have been killed and several rebel camps destroyed in a massive operation security forces launched in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district since Saturday, police said Monday.
“Around ten Maoist guerrillas have been killed in the operation since Saturday. Bodies of some of the Maoists have been recovered,” Jharkhand Director General of Police Neyaz Ahmad told reporters here.
Around 2,000 security personnel from the state police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have launched the massive operation in Saranda forest in the district against the rebels. Three helicopters are being used for surveillance and air-lifting of injured troopers. The operation is likely to continue for the next few days.
Meanwhile, the Maoists triggered blasts at a hostel and panchayat office at Anandpur of the Saranda forest. The police chief said Maoists had detonated around 13 landmine blasts in the last three days.
