Ten feared drowned in Uttar Pradesh boat capsize

Lucknow, Sep 26 (IANS) At least 10 students are feared drowned Friday after an overloaded boat capsized in the Sai river of Uttar Pradesh, police said.”We have managed to fish out four bodies till now and rescue operations are still underway,” deputy superintendent of police Vishram Ram told IANS on phone.

He said the boat ferrying 40 school students Thursday capsized in Sai river near Teerpur ghat at Pratapgarh district, around 150 kms from here. The boat was also loaded with two motorcycles and a few bicycles.

Immediately following the mishap, eleven students were rescued by local villagers while 19 were saved by the police who continue to look for bodies of the missing six students.
