Temperature dips below zero in Himachal district

- Shimla, Dec 2 (IANS) Intense cold prevailed across the tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh, where minimum temperature of Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district plummeted to minus 3.7 degrees Celsius Tuesday, the meteorological office said.Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded minus 0.5 degrees, it said.
The minimum temperature remained static at Bhuntar in Kullu district, recording 2.6 degrees, while Sundernagar in Mandi district registered 3.7 degrees, Una 3.8 degrees, Dharamsala, the headquarters of Tibetan government-in-exile, 8.1 degrees, and the tourist resort of Manali 2.8 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature at Shimla and its adjoining areas, however, rose over what is normal for this time of the year. The capital town recorded the night temperature at 8.0 degrees Celsius, that was three degrees above normal.
Barely 12 days back, on Nov 20, the minimum temperature in Shimla plummeted to 2.8 degrees Celsius after the season’s first snowfall was recorded in Kufri, just half-hour’s drive from here.
