Teenager held for ‘mischievous’ email on Delhi blast
September 14th, 2011 - 11:59 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Sep 14 (IANS) A 14-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday from near the West Bengal-Jharkhand border for “mischievously” posing as a terrorist and sending emails to media houses claiming responsibility for last week’s Delhi blast, police said.
The student was arrested at Pakur in Jharkhand by the Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police on the charge of emailing media houses by posing as a member of the Indian Mujahideen and claiming that it was responsible for the blast.
STF Additional Commissioner of Police Rajeev Kumar told mediapersons that the boy is neither linked to the terrorist outfit nor involved in the Sep 7 blast, which had left 13 dead and more than 90 injured.
“We have interrogated him. We are sure that he is not connected to any terror group or the blasts. He sent the mails mischievously,” Kumar said.
The boy, a computer-savvy bright student, had sent four emails to media houses from a Blackberry mobile by using a Kolkata mobile circle SIM card.
However, an officer of the National Investigation Agency will question the boy who was produced in a juvenile court.
He has been charged under various sections of the IT Act and Indian Penal Code.
