Manmohan Singh New Delhi, Aug 14 (IANS) Civil society activists Sunday said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has failed to resolve the issue of restrictions imposed by Delhi Police on Anna Hazare’s fast Aug 16, even as the Congress accused the Gandhian of being involved in corruption.

“It is very depressing that the prime minister of this country says this is too small a matter for him to bother about,” Prashant Bhushan, a member of Team Anna, told reporters here.

Angry at the Delhi Police restrictions, Hazare Saturday accused the government of betraying the nation’s trust, and said if he had known it would cheat, he would not have called off his fast in April.

He wrote a letter to the prime minister seeking his intervention but Manmohan Singh denied any role in the decision and suggested Hazare take up the matter with police.

“The prime minister has failed to sort out the matter and told us that we need to meet Delhi Police. It seems that it is not a Delhi Police order but has come from senior political leadership,” said Arvind Kejriwal, another member.

He reiterated that the affidavit submitted by them to Delhi Police will only have conditions that are genuine. Anna Hazare will begin an indefinite fast against corruption Aug 16, protesting that the government has not included key suggestions of Team Anna in the anti-graft Lokpal bill.
