Teachers asked to give undertaking on education act rules
April 1st, 2010 - 1:27 pm ICT by IANSBhopal, April 1 (IANS) With the Right to Education Act formally coming into effect Thursday, government school teachers in Madhya Pradesh have been asked to give an undertaking that they will follow the rules prescribed by the act, which includes not giving private tuitions, sources in the education department said.
The State School Education Ministry that has issued a circular in this regard has asked government primary and middle school heads to take an undertaking in triplicate from teachers ensuring, among other things, that they would not engage in coaching or giving private tuitions.
Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh School Education Minister Archana Chitnis has said the ‘School Chale Ham Abhiyan’ (Let’s go to school campaign), like every year, will be launched this year also but this time the campaign will be conducted in two phases — from April 1 to 15 and from July 1 to 15 when the schools reopen after the summer break.
The campaign aims at ensuring that all children in the age group of 6-14 years are brought to school and provided free and compulsory education till class VIII.
The state government, she said, has issued instructions to divisional commissioners, collectors and heads of zila Panchayats to make this campaign successful.
