- New York, Aug 29 (IANS) Contemporary artist-turned-director Sam Taylor-Wood is to direct a film about the former Beatle John Lennon’s teenage years. She will be joined by “Control” writer Matt Greenhalgh in making “Nowhere Boy”, a look at Lennon’s brushes with fame, reports contactmusic.com.
“I knew as I closed the final page that this was the film I had been looking to direct. The story spoke to me on so many levels - both personal and artistic,” Taylor-Wood told Screen Daily.
It is believed that the film will focus on the role Lennon’s aunt and mother played in his early life.
“The women in John’s early life truly shaped who he became, and the strengths and weaknesses of their relationships are central to this film,” she added.
The film is to be shot on location in Lennon’s home city of Liverpool.
