Ghaziabad, Oct 26 (IANS) Three motorcycle-borne men, one said to be dressed in police uniform, Tuesday shot and robbed a recovery agent of Tata Motors of about Rs.5 lakh in Ghaziabad, police said Tuesday.

The incident occurred in a deserted area near Hindon Bridge under Indirapuram police station.

Krishna Kant, 40, along with two of his colleagues was returning in a company van after collecting about Rs.5 lakh from the adjoining markets of Vasundhara, Vaishali and Indirapuram areas.

When the vehicle reached the bridge, three motorcyclists blocked their way and forced them to stop. As the driver stopped the van, the robbers snatched the bag containing the cash.

When Krishna Kant resisted their loot attempt, one of the robbers, allegedly dressed in police uniform, shot at him. One bullet hit the victim in his shoulder while the other bullet passed through the neck.

The armed private security guard, who was accompanying the team, attempted to fire but the robbers snatched his gun and fled the spot.

Police was informed and Krishna Kant taken to a nearby hospital.

“The doctors said that the victim sustained two gunshot injuries in his neck and shoulder. His condition is said to be critical. One bullet was found stuck in his shoulder while the other bullet passed through his neck,” said Inspector Rajesh Dwivedi of Indirapuram police station.

“Krishan Kant’s colleagues are unable to reveal any vital clue. His statement is vital but his condition is critical so we could not record his statement,” he added.
