Tarun Das among three new directors on Satyam board

Ramalinga RajuNew Delhi, Jan 15 (IANS) The government Thursday appointed three more directors to the board of the fraud-hit Satyam Computer Services, including Tarun Das, the chief mentor of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).The other two members announced by Corporate Affairs Minister P.C. Gupta are T.N. Manoharan, a reputed chartered accountant, and Suryakant Balakrishnan, a nominee of the Life Insurance Corp of India (LIC).

While Manoharan is a past president of the Institute of Chartered Accounts of India (ICAI), Balakrishnan represents LIC which is one of the largest investors in Satyam Computer Services.

The IT major is facing a financial mess because of a Rs.70 billion ($1.43 billion) fraud admitted last week by its founder and former chairman B. Ramalinga Raju.
