Tamil Nadu has highest human trafficking cases

New Delhi, Aug 10 (IANS) Tamil Nadu tops the states in cases of human trafficking with over 700 cases registered, Minister of State for Home Jitendra Singh told the Rajya Sabha Wednesday.

A total of 716 cases of human trafficking were registered in Tamil Nadu, followed by 344 cases in Maharashtra in 2009, said Singh.

He added that as per inputs provided by the National Crime Records Bureau, the total numbers of cases registered under the category of crimes categorised as human trafficking were 2,848.
