Tamil Nadu businessman released, police unsure about another

Bhopal, Jan 15 (IANS) One of the two Tamil Nadu businessmen, kidnapped over 10 days ago from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, has been released by the abductors. But mystery shrouds the release of his companion as the police were unable to trace him.On Jan 4, Senthil Kumar and Karunanidhi from Chennai were abducted from a guest house in Gwalior.

“Karunanidhi was released yesterday (Friday) itself and I talked to him personally. We are not sure about the other businessman as we could not trace him. But we have heard that he has been released too,” Gwalior range Inspector General of Police Arbind Kumar told IANS.

Initially, police sources had said the two traders were abducted by a gang of dacoits operating in the area along the Uttar Pradesh-Madhya Pradesh border.

The driver who had brought the two businessmen to Gwalior informed the dacoits about their whereabouts, the sources said.

However, Arbind Kumar refused to comment more on how Senthil and Karunanidhi got released.

The sources claimed that the kin of the two businessmen paid Rs.35 lakh to free them from the clutches of the dacoits.
