Kabul, Sep 4 (IANS) The Afghan Taliban Sunday freed four Turkish engineers whom they had held captive for nearly eight months.
They were freed in Ghazni, a province 125 km south of capital city Kabul, Xinhua reported.
“The Taliban insurgents who abducted the four Turkish engineers in Paktia province some eight months ago released them this morning and handed them over to elders in Deh Khudaidad village in the outskirts of Ghazni provincial capital the Ghazni city,” said a senior police official.
The four engineers used to work for a road construction company in Paktia province when Taliban militants kidnapped them.
The official said no ransom was paid for their release and it was the elders mediation which secured their freedom. All the four are in good health.
