Lucknow, Dec 16 (IANS) The Allahabad High Court Wednesday ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to take adequate measures to end the shortage of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in the state capital.
The Lucknow bench of the high court also instructed the government to submit report on the matter within three weeks.

The court’s directives came on a petition of the Awadh Auto Chalak Trade Union (AACTU), which alleged that the CNG shortage was adversely affecting the public transport system in Lucknow and that there was an urgent need to set up more gas stations in the state capital.

Hearing the petition, the court also issued a notice to the Green Gas Limited, the company authorised to supply CNG in Lucknow, to take necessary steps.

AACTU is demanding seven more CNG distribution and auto dispensing stations in Lucknow, which at present has four CNG stations that cater to nearly 6,000 autos and tempos in the state capital, officials said.
