Melbourne, Nov 11 (IANS) Andrew Symonds, who will be back in the Australian ranks in a Twenty20 exhibition game, vowed to become a better person and not repeat the mistakes that forced him out of the team.Symonds, who was banished from the team for missing a team meeting, will play against an all-stars team in Brisbane.

The all-rounder though said he would not appologise to the team because he has already admitted his mistake.

“I don’t really look at life like that,” Symonds was quoted as saying in Sydney Morning Herald.

“I made a mistake, I admitted that. I have done a number of things to not allow things like that to happen again and to become a better person so, no, I am not going in there to give anything back to them, I’m going in to make a go of my opportunity which I have been given now.

Symonds was left out of the tour to India as Cricket Australia put him through a rehabilitation.

“I have been through a confidential process. It is something I have done and drawn a lot out of it, and I am happy with where I am at and, believe it or not, I have actually enjoyed it.

“I will still be the same. You probably won’t see a great deal of change because you don’t see me all the time so it’s more what goes on probably off the field and the way I deal with certain situations.”

Symonds said the enjoyment of playing was the motivation to return.

“I ask myself the question, and the thing that I looked at was what comes with playing cricket for Australia and being an Australian cricketer. I love the challenge of the game out in the middle but there are so many other things you have to do being an Australian cricketer, and they are the things I was thinking about, but I have made that decision now and I am committed to giving my all.”

“If I make another mistake, it is going to be a pretty ugly ending, and I realise that, so I have got to be careful but at the same time I have still got to be the player and the person that I am when I play my best cricket.”
