The victim, Trilok Singh Tokas, a resident of Munirka, was killed around 11 p.m. Thursday night at the sports complex in Vasant Kunj area.
Tokas found two people in a public park situated inside the sports complex. As the park is supposed to be closed at that time, he went in to check and asked the duo to leave which led to a verbal argument and eventually a fistfight.
The duo then went out of the complex and returned with three others. In trying to get inside the complex, they attacked the security guards and then shot at Tokas.
“The assailants fired five bullets at the deceased,” said a senior police officer.
