“Oscar Tedgaid was escorted by a team of two Swedish embassy officials, who flew down to Lucknow from where they drove to Kanpur, where the 24-year-old was admitted at the Lala Lajpat Rai government hospital”, Kanpur joint magistrate Saumya Agrawal told IANS over telephone.
Two other Swedes, Victor and Wick, who were travelling with Oscar, were killed in the accident in which 14 coaches of the Delhi-bound Howrah-Kalka express jumped the rails near Malwan station in Fatehpur district, about 140 km from here, Sunday. The three were travelling in the air-conditioned coach of the train.
Oscar had suffered fractures in both his legs, for which he would now undergo treatment in New Delhi, the official said.
