Suspected Maoists kill two in West Bengal (Lead)

Kolkata, July 23 (IANS) Suspected Maoists Friday shot dead a Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) supporter and a 58-year-old primary school teacher in two separate incidents in West Bengal, police said.
A group of suspected rebels dragged CPI-M supporter Madhu Mondal out of his house at Balarampur in Purulia district and shot him dead.

“Suspected Maoist cadres shot dead Madhu and escaped,” Purulia Superintendent of Police Rajesh Yadav said.

Elsewhere, Rabindranath Mahato, a teacher at the Indraboni Primary School, was shot dead on a road in Indraboni village of Jhargram sub-division in West Midnapore district.

Three suspected Maoists came on a motorcycle and shot at Mahato, who died on the spot, Jhargram Additional Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar said. “We suspect that Maoists are behind the crime.”
