Suspected burglar lynched in Uttar Pradesh
February 20th, 2010 - 5:52 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Feb 20 (IANS) A suspected burglar was lynched by villagers in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district after he was caught allegedly sneaking into a house, police said Saturday.
Akbar, 29, who had nearly 15 cases of attempt to murder, abduction and loot registered against him, was beaten to death Friday night by residents of Sandanpur village, some 250 km from here.
“Akbar attempted the loot along with four aides. While his accomplices managed to escape, the locals caught Akbar and started beating him with sticks and iron rods,” inspector Mahesh Chandra told reporters.
