Supreme Court stays bar association resolution on membership
January 19th, 2012 - 1:26 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Jan 19 (IANS) The Supreme Court Thursday stayed a resolution of its bar association that sought to overcome an apex court verdict restricting its membership to control bogus voting in its election.
An apex court bench headed by Justice Altamas Kabir stayed the resolution till Friday when it will take up the matter for hearing.
The resolution, passed Monday, had also expelled from the bar association’s primary membership three senior lawyers who were appointed to identify the advocates who are regularly practising in the apex court.
