Ghaziabad, Nov 9 (IANS) Food samples and other articles collected from the spot where a woman and her two daughters committed suicide here have been sent for forensic tests, police said Wednesday.

“The dead bodies of the three victims have been sent for autopsy and articles collected from the spot, including food, have been sent for forensic tests,” said Praveen Ranjan Singh, Circle Officer-II, Ghaziabad.

The 46-year-old wife of an engineer poisoned her two daughters, before killing herself in the same way at their home here early Tuesday.

Sunita Upadhyay, 46, mixed poison in the dinner given to her daughters Preeti, 24, and Ruchi, 18, Monday night, after which she ate the meal herself, police said.

Sunita was the wife of Rakesh Kumar Upadhyay, who worked as an engineer with Bhushan Steels Ltd.

Police said Rakesh returned home in Sanjay Nagar around 7.30 p.m. Monday night, after which he had dinner and retired to his room.

Late at night, he woke up on hearing his wife and daughters vomiting. He rushed them to hospital, where they died.
