Suicide bombing toll in Pakistan rises to 36

Islamabad, May 27 (IANS) The toll in the suicide car bomb attack in Pakistan’s northwest city of Hangu has risen to 36, a media report said Friday.
The News reported that among the people killed in the massive blast Thursday evening were 10 police personnel while over 50 people were injured.
The attack took place at about 6.15 p.m. near a police officer’s office at the Hangu-Kohat link road in the city, Xinhua reported.
The office of the district police officer was partially damaged in the explosion.
As many as 15 shops were damaged in the blast.
A small hotel near the blast site, in which the police personnel were eating, was completely destroyed and six shops surrounding the hotel collapsed.
Pakistan Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which was aimed at avenging the killing of Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden by the US special forces in Abbottabad May 2.
