Sudhindra’s seven-wicket haul puts Madhya Pradesh on top

New Delhi, Dec 15 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh fast bowler T.P. Sudhindra’s seven-wicket haul in the first innings demolished Haryana as the hosts were bundled out for 126 and made to follow-on on the third day of their Ranji Trophy Elite League match Thursday.

At Rohtak, Nitin Saini (53) and Sunny Singh (75 batting) led the Haryana fight-back as they made 147 for the loss of two wickets in their second innings at close on the third day. Madhya Pradesh made 487 in the first innings and have assured points on the basis of their first innings lead.

At the Edebn Gardens in Kolkata, Manoj Tiwary, fresh from his maiden ODI ton, resurrected the Bengal innings with a brilliant 163 that took the home team to 358/8 from a precarious 138 for five. Skipper Sourav Ganguly also scored 50. Delhi fast bowler Pradeep Sangwan picked up 4/95.

Bengal, who are staring at relegation, still trail by 34 runs and, with two wickets in hand, will try to take a first innings lead to bag points from the match.

At Jaipur, defending champions Rajasthan have a firm grip on the game as they bowled out Saurashtra for 265 in their first innings after a five-wicket haul by tall fast bowler Pankaj Singh. The hosts were 169/1 in the second innings at stumps with veteran Aakash Chopra batting on 87. Saurashtra now have a lead of 300 runs.

At the Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat were 293 for four in the first innings at stumps after Tamil Nadu declared at a mammoth score of 698/8. Pratharesh Parmar (45) and Manprit Juneja (84) are still battling hard as they shared an unbeaten partnership of 138 for the fifth wicket.
