Kolkata, June 28 (IANS) The driver and conductor of the school bus which crushed a school girl after she fell off from it Monday in West Bengal’s Durgapur city were arrested Tuesday, officials said.

According to reports, the two, instead of taking the victim to a hospital, put her in the bus and drove to her house quite a distance apart.

A case of negligence has also been initiated against them.

“Both the conductor and the driver of the bus have been arrested and the police have been asked to initiate a case of negligence against them. From inspection it was also found that they did not posses proper permit to run the bus. They would be produced before the court Wednesday,” said Burdwan District Magistrate Onkar Singh Meena.

According to reports, Karuna Singh, a student of class four in DAV Model School, Durgapur was run over by the bus in which she was travelling. She was thrown out of the bus in a sudden jerk and was crushed by its rear tyres.

Instead of taking her to a hospital the driver put her body inside the bus and drove to her house. He then abandoned the bus along with other school children and fled.
