Student killed in group clash in Punjab
July 5th, 2011 - 8:19 pm ICT by IANSRajpura (Punjab), July 5 (IANS) An engineering student was killed and two were injured after some students clashed inside a college premises here, police said Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Himanshu, in his early 20s, and he hailed from Himachal Pradesh. He was staying in the hostel of Surya Engineering College.
“Two groups of students clashed over some issue late Monday night. One student was killed while two were injured. One of the injured students was shifted to PGIMER (Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, in Chandigarh)… his condition is serious,” Rajpura’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Manmohan Sharma told IANS.
No arrests have been made so far.
Rajpura, in Patiala district of Punajb, is around 40 km from the state capital Chandigarh.
