Student killed, four injured in Uttar Pradesh accident
January 17th, 2011 - 4:11 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Jan 17 (IANS) A school student was killed and four others were injured after a speeding tempo carrying them overturned in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambhi district Monday, police said.The accident took place in Manauli area when the driver of the tempo multi-seater carrying students of the Puramufti Public School tried to overtake a vehicle. One student was killed on the spot.
“Anand Keserwani, aged around 8 years, was a native of Nayaganj village,” inspector Devendra Kumar told reporters in Kaushambhi, some 250 km from here.
“The injured students are from Classes 3-5. All are being treated at a hospital, where the condition of one is stated to be serious,” he said.
The driver ran away after the accident. “Efforts are on to nab him,” he added.
